Become a Friend of the Library
Few organizations represent a spirit of community better than the Friends of the Park Ridge Public Library. Started in 1946, the Friends remains one of the largest (more than 800 members) and most active such groups in Illinois, dedicated to helping bring library services to all residents.
With money raised through their annual used book sales, the Friends pay for extra materials, programs, and equipment not supported by tax dollars. They contribute more than $20,000 a year towards reading club prizes, programs, and additions to special collections, such as DVDs and video games. They also make regular contributions to the Library’s Endowment Fund.
In addition to their fundraising, many Friends members also work as volunteers in other areas of the Library, or serve as library ambassadors to the community at large, raising awareness of programs and issues. Over the years they have become as familiar a part of everyday operations as the staff, united by a goal to maintain the Library as a cultural center of Park Ridge.
The Park Ridge Public Library recently sent a "Friends of the Library" contribution envelope inserted in the March/April/May newsletter. Your contribution provides the many extras that help make the Library an outstanding part of our community.
There are three levels of membership from which to choose.
· Friend – $20
· Patron – $50
· Life – $125 (Your name will be permanently displayed in the Library)
All new members receive a $5 coupon that can be redeemed at any of their book sales.
