City of Park Ridge seeks volunteers for various Boards and Commissions
Recently, Acting Mayor Maloney issued a proclamation recognizing the spirit of volunteerism afforded by many residents who serve on the City’s Boards and Commissions. Volunteers are frequently referred to as the backbone of our community.
Currently, the City is accepting applications for the following volunteer positions:
(1) One position on the Animal Commission
(1) One position on the O’Hare Airport Commission
(1) One adult commissioner position of the Youth Services Commission
(1) One position on the Appearance Commission
(3) Three positions on the Board of Library Trustees
(1) One position on the Community Health Commission (with substance abuse counseling experience)
Interested individuals can learn more about the responsibilities of the position and qualifications by visiting the City of Park Ridge website at www.parkridge.us. In the upper right SEARCH field, enter Boards and Commissions. An application can be accessed online or in the foyer at City Hall. Applicants are strongly encouraged to review past Board or Commission minutes to better understand the business that is conducted, although it is not a requirement.
Completed applications should be returned to Deputy Clerk Peterson at firstname.lastname@example.org or by fax, 847/318-5300 before April 29. You will be contacted to arrange for a brief interview with the Mayor’s Advisory Board to discuss your interests and qualifications. The Board recommends well-qualified candidates to the Mayor for appointment; if the Mayor accepts the Board's recommendation, the candidate will be required to have a non-fingerprint criminal background check before receiving final approval of appointment by the City Council.
Volunteers are an essential part of and a precious resource in our great City. By donating your time and talent, you are contributing to the spirit of volunteerism within the community, making Park Ridge a better place to live and work. The Mayor’s Advisory Board is chaired by Alderman Marc Mazzuca and members include Alderman Nicholas Milissis, Ald. Roger Shubert, and Ald. John Moran.
Please call Deputy Clerk Peterson at 847/318-5464 with any questions.
