Enrollment Open for 2015 Citizens Police Academy

The Park Ridge Police Department will hold its 2015 Citizens Police Academy beginning Wednesday, April 8 and running through June 10.

This 10-week interactive program, which meets on Wednesdays from 7:00 – 9:30 p.m. at the Public Works Center, is designed to give citizens an in-depth look into the various areas of law enforcement. It’s an educational program that allows others to learn about issues that affect law enforcement efforts in the City of Park Ridge, as well as develop a partnership with the Police Department.

Participants will learn how to identify problems and help create solutions to safety issues affecting our community. The program includes both lecture-style and hands-on presentations covering topics such as:

·         History of the Department

·         Traffic laws and enforcement

·         DUI and criminal investigations

·         Court process

·         Drugs and gangs

·         Crime scene investigation

·         Community policing

·         Firearms

The Citizens Police Academy is open to persons 21 years of age and older, who live or work in Park Ridge. To download an application, click here or stop by the Police Department to pick up a copy.
