Come join us at Bunker Hill Forest Preserve (located at 6800 N Caldwell Ave.) for our annual Arbor Day Celebration and honor the grandeur of trees!
From Noon to 4PM on Saturday, April 30th, the Forest Preserves of Cook County will be hosting a variety of tree-themed activities including tree planting, caching, climbing, identification and art-making activities.
Tree planting will begin at 1PM with a dedication ceremony and planting will take place every forty minutes until 3:40 PM.
Participants will have the opportunity to repurpose invasive species into small planters and other crafts, use geocaching methods on a tree-themed scavenger hunt, and learn tips and tricks on identifying different types of trees.
The University of Illinois Extension will be joining us to facilitate a tree ring analysis to help estimate the age of some our forests’ oldest residents and the Niles Public Library will be leading a "poetree" writing session with participants.
We invite the public to explore the forests and their most prominent inhabitants and learn about the importance of trees to our community and world!
