We welcome you to come experience the new exhibit "Built Out of a Box: Mail Order Homes in Park Ridge", at Iannelli Studios Heritage Center, 255 N. Northwest Highway, from Sunday, April 14, 2013 through until Sunday, June 2, 2013
See the 1:00 p.m. presentation on Sears and other catalogue houses by Park Ridge researcher Annie Eriksson.
Followed by a tea reception, the afternoon will also include a housewalk from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., featuring a select number of Sears homes in Park Ridge.
The exhibit will run until Sunday, June 2.
According to Eriksson, although Park Ridge’s first name — Brickton — came from the bricks that were manufactured here, many homes in Park Ridge were actually made of wood purchased from catalogues and brought here by rail.
This special presentation is the first of a series of opportunities this spring inviting residents to take a closer look at the homes that make "Park Ridge a Wonderful Place to Live".
A limited number of tickets for the talk, exhibit, reception and tour are available for $15 donation online at www.kalofoundation.org or by calling 847-824-4536.
As part of the focus on homes in Park Ridge, The Kalo Foundation has bird houses and butterfly houses available for a donation of $10 in the gift shop. All proceeds from the bird and butterfly houses and the event benefit the ongoing restoration efforts at Iannelli Studios Heritage Center.
