Community Garage Sale 2016 - Maine Township

The Annual Community Garage Sale is a popular place for residents to sell their own wares or for shopping for great bargains on kid’s toys, clothes, furniture, tools, lawn equipment, household items and much more. It is held 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. rain or shine at Maine Township Town Hall, 1700 Ballard Rd., Park Ridge, IL. Info at 847-297-2510.

For the 11th consecutive year, spaces for vendors have sold out weeks before the event.
 
The Annual Community Garage Sale is organized by the MaineStay Youth & Family Services department of Maine Township - benefiting at-risk youths in the Maine Township community as well as needy families
 
This popular event will be held RAIN OR SHINE on Saturday, Sept. 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the parking lot of Maine Township Town Hall, 1700 Ballard Road, Park Ridge. Info at 847-297-2510.
 
All attendees can register to win one of two kid’s bikes being given away that day. The bikes were provided by Bil-Mac Express of Elk Grove Village. Event proceeds benefit the Adventure Maine Township Summer Camp and the Township’s food pantry which serves hundreds of families each month.
 
Area residents and other event-goers can participate in several ways. People can make a financial donation or come by to participate in the sale. There are bargains galore from over 70 sellers offering everything from children's clothes to tools to lawn equipment and much more are expected.
 
Admission is free.
 
Food and beverages will be sold on a limited basis.
 
"This annual event is not only fun, but also raises money for two worthy causes," says Supervisor Carol A. Teschky. "We encourage our Township residents to participate, to give financial support, or just come by to shop."

Event sponsors include Maine Township, The Journal & Topics Newspapers, Senior News 50 & Better, Chicago Behavioral Hospital, International Bank of Chicago, Suburban Resource Guide for Seniors, Village Bank, Summit of Uptown, Bil-Mac Express, Parkway Bank, Republic Services, Costco, Cook County Commissioner Peter Silvestri, State Representative Michael McAuliffe, North Shore Motor Works, and Liberty Bank for Savings.
 
Proceeds from the event benefit the Adventure Maine Township Summer Camp and the Township's Emergency Food Pantry. The camp program, coordinated by the Township's MaineStay division, gives at-risk youth, ages 8 through 13, the opportunity to participate in cultural and recreational experiences to which they may not otherwise have access. The food pantry, a service of the General Assistance department, serves an average of over 200 families per month throughout the year and even more during holiday periods, but the demand never ends."

Residents can participate in several ways. People can reserve space to sell their own treasures, make a donation of cash or merchandise to the Garage Sale or come by and shop on the day of the sale. Donated merchandise will be sold BY Maine Township staff to help raise funds.
