Compass to Care, The Mike & Sandy Ernsdorff Childhood Cancer Foundation has announced their annual Back To School BUBBLE FUN RUN. This family-friendly 5K run and 1 mile walk will be held on August 17, 2019 at Hodges Park located at 101 S Courtland Ave in Park Ridge, IL.
This race was created to bring awareness about and raise funds for the costly travel to get children with cancer to and from treatment. . By participating in the BUBBLE FUN RUN, participants will be helping these kids get from their homes to the hospital for the treatment necessary to save their lives.
"We are so excited to host the BUBBLE FUN RUN in Park Ridge again this year. Adding bubbles to the race course made this run so much more fun for both kids and adults. It has become a back-to-school event not to miss," commented Michelle Ernsdorff-May, the founder of Compass to Care.
Starting at Hodges Park in Park Ridge, IL, participants can choose the 5K or 1 mile route through the neighborhoods of Park Ridge. There will be foaming bubble at the starting line, finish line, and throughout the course. A specific race for kids under 7 will start at 8am. The 5K, for all ages, will begin at 8:15am and the 1 mile walk will begin at 8:30am.
Before the race begins, a ceremony honoring childhood cancer survivors and angels will take place. Runners are encouraged to bring photos of anyone who has been affected by childhood cancer to place on the Honor Wall.
"Since we had so many adults and kids come out last year to participate in the BUBBLE FUN RUN as family, we have decided to create a new discounted family registration rate for up to 5 family members. Each member will still receive a swag bag and t-shirt as part of the family registration," added Ernsdorff-May.
Registration is currently open and will be discounted by $5 per participant until July 17, 2019. Childhood Cancer Survivors register for free.
