A Genealogy Workshop, sponsored by the Twenty-first Star Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 from 9:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. in the 3rd floor meeting room of the Park Ridge Library. Attendees will have the opportunity to work with one of the members on our lineage research team and receive assistance with application papers.

Drop in at this workshop where volunteers from the 21st Star Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.) will show you how to find information from many different sources: military records, cemetery records, census data, immigration forms, church records, marriage licenses, death certificates, school records, and birth certificates.

Attendees will have the opportunity to work with one of the members on the DAR’s lineage research team and receive assistance with application papers. This workshop is for women who are interested in joining the DAR. Please bring along all your records and information. We will have reference books available for your use.

Any woman 18 years or older, regardless of race, religion, or ethnic background, who can prove lineal decent from a patriot of the American Revolution, is eligible for membership. The DAR recognizes "Patriots: as not only soldiers but also anyone who contributed to the cause of American freedom."

If you have any questions regarding this Workshop, please contact Dorothy Wilson at (847) 328-6946 for further details.

"This is not a Library-sponsored event. Except for providing meeting space, the Park Ridge Public Library is not in any manner connected with this meeting, and neither the Library nor the Board of Trustees endorses any position expressed by the group."

ALSO - On the third Thursday of each month, SEPTEMBER through MAY, representatives of the 21st Star Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters (DAR) are available to answer genealogy questions from 9:00 a.m. until Noon in the Library's second floor Reference Department.

The DAR (21st Star Chapter, National Society of the DAUGHTERS of the AMERICAN REVOLUTION) has been providing this service at the Library for the past 15 years. As you work your way back, one generation at a time, these ladies of the DAR can help you search for information from many different sources– military records, cemetery records, census data, immigration forms, church records, marriage licenses, death certificates, school records, birth certificates - online and in print.

Please phone the Reference Department with questions, and to verify that the DAR representative will be at the Library on a particular date/Thursday.

Members of the Twenty-first Star Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution present this opportunity.
