Join us for the dedication of the newly restored Post Office Mural in the Park Ridge Public Library on Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 2:00 to 2:30 p.m.
The 6 ft. by 20 ft Park Ridge mural, “Indians Cede the Land” was painted by George Melville Smith. It was installed in the Park Ridge Post Office at 164 S. Prospect Avenue, on June 20, 1940 when the building was three years old. Rescued from destruction more than 40 years ago, the Park Ridge Post Office Mural was in storage until it was donated to the Park Ridge Public Library.
In need of complete restoration, a group of citizens formed the Mural Restoration Committee and partnered with the Historical Society to raise funds for the restoration.
Please join us in the Library for the dedication of the newly restored Post Office Mural!
