A presentation on the suffrage movement in Illinois and how women got the right to vote

Learn about "Illinois Women and the Fight for Suffrage" at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, in honor of the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment.

Speaker Lori Osborne will include the work of Clara Barck Welles, founder of the Kalo Shop and the Kalo Arts Crafts Workshop on Grant Street in Park Ridge.

Welles was instrumental in helping Illinois women obtain the right to vote in state elections before the federal amendment was passed in 1920.

Osborne is the director of the Evanston Women's History Project and the Illinois Coordinator for the Votes for Women Trail. She also serves on the Women's Suffrage Anniversary Committee of the League of Women Voters of Illinois.
