Darcy Evon, historian for Kalo Foundation, will discuss how the Arts & Crafts Movement led to the unprecedented commercialization and the empowerment of thousands of women and immigrants,. She will also be signing her new book "Hand Wrought Arts & Crafts Metalwork & Jewelry 1890-1940" ---
There will also be a display of Kalo & Chicago Silver
Darcy Evon, historian for Kalo Foundation, will discuss how the Arts & Crafts Movement led to the unprecedented commercialization and the empowerment of thousands of women and immigrants, who began to pursue new careers in design and handicraft, including the Kalo Shop in Park Ridge. They designed exquisite, original pieces of metalwork and jewelry by hand, starting with basic raw materials.
Darcy will also be signing her new book Hand Wrought Arts & Crafts Metalwork & Jewelry 1890-1940
There will also be a beautiful display of Kalo silver and Chicago silver. Burt Olsson, long time resident of Park Ridge, will also have on display his father Yngve Olsson's tools and design books. Ynge was a long time silversmith at the Kalo Shop in Park Ridge.
