The Park Ridge Historical Society announces the community premiere of the ““Faster and Higher, That’s the Maine Flyer” documentary produced by students at Maine East and Maine South high schools to be held at the Park Ridge Nonprofit Center, 720 Garden Street on Saturday, May 2 at 4:00pm.
Please join the Park Ridge Historical Society and the students of Maine East and Maine South as they present the community premiere of the ""Faster and Higher, That’s the Maine Flyer" documentary produced by students at Maine East and Maine South high schools to be held at the Park Ridge Nonprofit Center, 720 Garden Street on Saturday, May 2 at 4:00pm.
The short documentary includes period stills and expert commentary to paint a picture of the amazing story of how Park Ridge teens came together during WWII to raise $500,000 (that's $7million in today's dollars) to buy a C54 transport plane which was called "The Maine Flyer" (you can click on the link at the bottom of this page to see a photo of the airplane).
Joining the event will be alumni interviewed for the Wartime Memories project, student interviewers, Maine East TV & Radio teacher Phil Ash and students who edited and produced the documentary.
Following the screening we will have a question and answer session during which citizens can ask wartime alumni about their recollections of life in Park Ridge during the War.
