Maine Community Youth Assistance Foundation (MCYAF) is pleased to announce its 2015 Community Heroes who will be honored at the MCYAF Community Heroes Benefit Dinner on Thursday, September 17, 2015 from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm at Café la Cave at 2777 S. Mannheim Road in Des Plaines.

The 2015 Heroes are:
- Mary Dankowski of the Des Plaines Youth Commission and Maine West High School
- Michelle Delarosa, a local business owner of MBD Martial Arts on Miner Street in Des Plaines
- Evelyn Fennell of MaineStay and Family Services of Maine Township
- Gene Haring of the Des Plaines Park District
- Duane Mellema, Deputy Chief of Police - Park Ridge
Awardees were nominated by members of the community and confirmed by the MCYAF Board of Directors who include: Gloria Ludwig - President, Debra Oswald-Secretary, Jim Lange – Outgoing Treasurer, Ella Woodford-Parker, Georgine Donovan, Ramon Sanchez, Ray Imig, and Dr. Karla Steingraber. All of the honorees have been involved with MCYAF and the youth of Maine Township for several years and have contributed in different ways showing extreme commitment to keeping teens healthy and safe and away from the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse.
Congratulations to all these wonderful people! We are lucky to have them in our community!

There will be a silent auction, raffle and cash bar. Entertainment will be provided by the very funny Derek Lengwenus.
All funds raised go to programs for the prevention of adolescent drug and alcohol abuse for our teens in Maine Township.
