Medication Take Back Day - Park Ridge, IL

Drop off expired, unused or unwanted prescription and over-the-counter drugs safely and anonymously at the Park Ridge Police Station, 200 S. Vine, Park Ridge, on Saturday, September 26, 2015 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm ------ Keep the label on the container with the medication name visible but cross out your personal information with a pen and/or marker. Protect our water supply and prevent drug abuse by safely disposing of your medications in this manner.

Do you have expired, unused or unwanted medications in your home? Dispose of your expired, unused and unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications safely and anonymously at at the Park Ridge Police Department on Saturday, September 26th --- You can prevent drug abuse by removing medications from your home while also protecting our water supply and landfills from improper disposal methods.

  • Expired or unwanted prescription medications
  • Over the counter medications
  • Vitamins and Nutritional Supplements
  • Veterinary Medications
  • Homeopathic remedies
  • EpiPens
 
Bring the medications in their original bottles / containers. --
Blackout Personal Information -- Keep the LABELS  ON THE container! -- Using a black marker and/or pen, individuals should black out their personal information as well as their doctor’s information, but do not black out the medication name. This is necessary to catalogue the medications.
  • NO Medical Waste -- including the following items:
  • Needles/Sharps (excluding EpiPens)
  • Thermometers
  • IV bags
  • Bloody or infectious waste
  • Personal care products

  • What other substances are NOT acceptable:
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Empty containers
  • Business waste
  • Aerosol cans
  • NO LIQUID MEDICATION
 
All year ‘round, the Park Ridge Police Department has – in their lobby – a Save-A-Star box for disposal of pills only
 
 
The Park Ridge Health Department has the sharps and prescription collection the 1st Thursday of each month at City Hall.
 
 
Protect your family and our environment! Children who abuse prescription drugs often get them from their own home or a friend or family member’s home.
 
 
On each Take Back Day, our local police departments collect more than 300 pounds of medications.
 
 
This event is sponsored by the Park Ridge Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
