National Night Out - Hodges Park in Park Ridge

Park Ridge Police Host 9th National Night Out on Tuesday August 6 in Hodges Park --- Come for a free, fun-filled evening complete with crime prevention informational booths, --- This year’s opening ceremony will honor the Park Ridge Public Library’s 100th Anniversary!

The Park Ridge Police Department will be holding their Annual "National Night Out" against crime event  on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 in Hodges Park from 6:30p-9:00p.  This is a nationwide program is held each year to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness and generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs. This year celebrates  the 30th Anniversary of National Night Out nationwide!

 
Come on out and enjoy this FREE, FUN-filled evening complete with crime prevention information booths, children’s games and activities!!! 
 
This year’s opening ceremony will honor the Park Ridge Library’s 100th Anniversary! and conclude with our traditional mascot race. 
 
Activities will take place in Hodges Park from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm and include
>> Child safety seat information
>> Fatal vision demonstrations
>> K9 and Defensive Tactics demonstrations
>> Petting Zoo
>> Dunk-A-Cop
>> Donut eating contest
>> Train rides
>> Refreshments
>> Dance the night away to the DJ
>> See and touch the variety of equipment (trucks, etcetera) on display
>> Take a tour of the police department
>> Enter the free raffle for a chance to win a new bike, gift certificates to local merchants and much, much more!
 
The Police Department Open House will be from 6:30 to 8:30 pm.

National Night Out provides residents with an opportunity to meet police officers, talk with their neighbors, strengthen the community, learn about safety and fight crime.
 
National Night Out is "America’s Night Out Against Crime" and has grown from 2.5 million participants in its first year to over 37 million in 2011. Over 15,000 communities participated last year in an effort to heighten crime and drug awareness and strengthen neighborhood spirit and law enforcement community partnerships. National Night Out is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) and is co-sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance and the Park Ridge Police Department.
 
NOTE: Residents are asked to turn on their porch lights to support National Night Out from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
