The City of Park Ridge is offering a holiday light recycling program where all holiday string lights and extension cords can be dropped off at the Park Ridge Public Works Service Center for safe disposal. (NO pre-lit trees, wreaths, or garland.)
The City has partnered with Elgin Recycling Inc. to recycle the lights and cords. The strands are separated and baled and sent to be chopped or shredded and sold as a commodity to foundries and mills in the United States.
All colors and lengths of the following are accepted:
- mini-lights
- C7 lights
- C9 lights
- rope lights
- LED lights
- extension cords
NOT ACCEPTED are PRE–LIT: Garland, Wreaths, Trees … neither fake nor live.
