Paul S. Kruty, professor emeritus of architectural history at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 2, on "The Woodbury County Courthouse in Sioux City, Iowa: The Greatest Public Building of the Prairie School."
The building, designed by the Minneapolis firm of Purcell & Elmslie, also includes sculpture by Alfonso Iannelli and murals by John W. Norton, It has survived in pristine condition for more than a century.
Kruty, who grew up in nearby Edison Park, maintains that this amazing building should be viewed by every student of the Prairie School for its outstanding architecture, sculpture and murals.
