Illinois Chapter of Surface Design Association presents Transparent-Translucent-Transformed,a show consisting of both literal and conceptional/abstract interpretations of the theme. The show is primarily Textile and Fiber Art.

The purpose of this group is to encourage members to write and provide a safe place to read one’s work and get some feedback. We meet the second Tuesday of every month.

The kickoff reception for the American Cancer Society's Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Park Ridge 5K walk will be held on Thursday August 14, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.at the Park Ridge Country Club, 636 N. Prospect Avenue in Park Ridge. This year's walk will be held on Saturday, October 25th at Hodges Park in Park Ridge. The Farmer's Market will be held every Saturday, from 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. from May 24 to October 25, 2014 AT: Prairie and Garden, which is at just south of the Metra train tracks and Touhy, and east of Cumberland Avenues.

FREE screening of the movie AT THE historic Pickwick Theatre on August 16 at Noon --- A suggested donation of one used book for Chicago literacy organization Open Books will admit two guests to the screening! (Seats are first-come, first-served) --- Albert Whitman & Company is celebrating the release of The Boxcar Children DVD with this screening. --- Voice actors Zachary Gordon and Jadon Sand will be in attendance. The first 500 kids will receive exclusive Boxcar goodie bags!
