January 20, 2017 is the LAST DAY Park Ridge Public Works (400 Busse Highway) will be collecting WHITE block styrofoam to be recycled. Drop it off between 7am and 3pm and help reduce our community's carbon footprint and keep styrofoam out of landfills. Styrofoam takes 20,000 years to biodegrade. Sorry NO food/beverage containers; NO straws, lids, plastic wrap; NO packing peanuts; NO building insulation/foam of any kind. Questions? Call Mike at 847-318-5243

TRICK OR TREAT AT ST. MARY’S On Monday, October 31, 2016 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. We will be handing out full size candy bars, lemonade and coffee. Halloween is not just for kids! Come over and enjoy trick or treating in a safe environment. Can you volunteer? Please let us know by October 28.

St. Luke's Lutheran Church at 205 N. Prospect Ave.is hosting Yoga classes every Tuesday eve. at 7:00 p.m. -8:15 p.m. and Thursday mid morning from 11:00 a.m.-12:15 p.m. The instructor is Dawn Christiansen and she is a 200 hour Certified Yoga Instructor. A $5.00 donation per class goes directly to St. Luke's for their debt reduction program. Come and enjoy a nice relaxing class. All are Welcome!

Bridge: Play of the Hand/More Conventions -- this class is for people who have knowledge of, or who have taken the Beginners Bridge class. --- Wednesdays, October 29-December 7, 9:00-11:00am --- No class on 11/23.

S.T.A.R. Book Worms Club meets on the 1st Thursday of the month. ---- Join us in reading a variety of books and meet monthly for intelligent discussion.

The Park Ridge Toastmasters club has been in Park Ridge since June 9, 1949, meeting in the same location at the United Methodist Church, 418 West Touhy. We meet on the first floor and love to have guests visit our club. --- We meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month from January through October. Due to the Holidays we meet on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month in November and December.

The Friends' Fall Book Sale will be held Friday through Sunday on the first full weekend in November. ------------ On FRIDAY, the Sale will be open for Friends of the Library members ONLY. Numbers will be given out beginning at 3:00 pm. DOORS OPEN AT 4:00 PM. Memberships to the Friends of the Library may be purchased at the door. Information on Memberships is available at the Library's Circulation Desk.------------ On SUNDAY, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, all items will be half-price.
