March Kalo Exhibits Feature Park Ridge Artists

The Kalo Foundation will host a series of exhibits by local artists during the month of March, including the first formal showing of photographs by Bill Nelles. A 1974 Maine South graduate, Nelles’s work captures evocative images of seemingly ordinary places and objects.
There will be an opening reception for the exhibit on Sunday, March 9, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Nelles will take the opportunity to speak more about his work.

Included at the exhibit will be a selection of artwork by Carol Bridge (1899-1997), the principal artist for the Prairie Farmer publications through the 1940s. Several selections show the progression from original artwork through final printed versions. These works are provided courtesy of Bill Nelles.

Also on display during March will be a selection of posters by Scott Mutter, recently donated by his friend Michael R. Collet. Mutter was a 1961 Maine East graduate who expressed his unique vision in photomontages, which he came to call "Surrational Images." Created long before computers and Photoshop made manipulating images commonplace, his posters became widely known and admired.
Iannelli Studios Heritage Center is open Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Sundays from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Public parking is available across the street. For more information please email info@kalofoundation.org.
