Longest Night Service on the longest night of the year. Celebrate Christ's birth and the coming of the light into our darkest places with songs, candles, Holy Communion and prayers.
We bring our full selves into each new holiday season. The expression of our full selves includes all the joy, hope and peace but also the pain, loss, sorrow and tragedy of our lives. St. Luke’s Longest Night Service takes place on the winter solstice, Dec. 21 – the longest night of the year – to celebrate the coming of the light into our darkest places.
While holiday marketing emphasizes the season as "the most wonderful time of the year," it is important to have places and rituals to find authentic ways of honoring the reality of our actual lives that may be more difficult as well. With songs, litanies, candles, Holy Communion and prayers, St. Luke’s will offer "holy ground" to acknowledge the complexities of life’s journey, while celebrating light and hope that comes in the birth of Jesus. Please join us for this powerful service.
St. Luke’s is located at 205 N. Prospect Ave. in Park Ridge, IL.
